Alpha Video & Audio, Inc. and Charter Media Launch New Photo Classified Advertising/Interactive Website

Charter Channel.net is First Web Centric System in the Industry

Minneapolis, Minnesota, August 1, 2001 – Alpha Video & Audio, Inc., a leading professional digital video systems dealer, and Charter Media (Mid-South Region), a division of Charter Communications, announced the launch of a new photo classified advertising/interactive Web site solution called Charter Channel.net. Charter Channel.net is the first single point of entry system that is Web centric and publishes with a media appropriate design to both the cable channel and the Web.

“We are proud to be leading the cable industry with the functionality we have on this new advertising vehicle”, said Caswell Huff, Photo-Ad Manager, Charter Media. “The quality of the graphics, the ease of entry and the fact that the site allows advertisers to directly control the content and appearance of their ads both on the local channel and the website greatly increases our potential for revenue growth and channel development.”

From a single interface, both cable personnel and advertisers can enter content that will play both on the cable channel and on the Internet. It allows for centralized production for a multi-region cable operation and acts as a content management system that will lower production costs.

Charter Channel.net debuted with a real estate, auto and community section. Dining and Marketplace sections will be added in the coming months.

Alpha Digital Display Group (ADDG) developed Charter Channel.net on the CastNet™ platform. AdCastNET™, the product that serves the cable industry, includes Windows 2000 server with dual firewalls, custom Web front end, MPEG2 video playback, auto play list generation, full search on Web site, two levels of user access (administration and end user), online sign-up and payment, and custom video template capability.

“Everybody knows the Web is going to play an important part of advertising in the future”, said Lance Hutchinson, ADDG Manager. “This product allows a cable group to cross-promote both its Web and photo classified channels. It’s the least expensive solution with the most functionality available for cable operators.”
