Digital Display Group Releases CastNET™ 6.0 Video and Web Communications Software

Minneapolis, MN, September 10, 2004 -- Alpha Video’s Digital Display Group has announced the latest release of its CastNET™ software for integrating Video and Web communications. CastNET is the complete Web-based, content management, message creation tool for Scala’s InfoChannel 3, the world’s leading digital signage playback, design, and distribution software.

The popular CastNET software provides the gaming industry, corporations, retail stores, the cable industry, schools and government the ability to convey information created by non-technical users easily and effectively via digital signage and the Web.

CastNET 6.0 features several user-friendly additions that enhance the preview mode before actually approving content. “A ‘Real Preview’ is one of the most exciting features of this new version,” said Lance Hutchinson, Director of Alpha Video’s Digital Display Group. “Users can now see, page by page, exactly what their content will look like when published.”

Other enhancements to CastNET 6.0 include “MultiPublish Preview”, a feature that allows users to preview content at multiple sizes, including portrait, landscape, 4x3 and 16x9 dimensions. CastNET 6 also fully supports the new “Global Crawl”, which allows up to 3 news tickers, stock tickers or emergency crawls to be assigned to each system. Another feature, “Vpages”, allows the template designer to label each text entry field with custom text. “This new aspect of CastNET is extremely helpful in simplifying the data entry for Web users, allowing for specialized template layouts, charts and graphs,” explained Hutchinson.

In addition to these major enhancements, Digital Display Group has improved CastNET’s ability to publish all content to an XML file. “This allows for much easier integration to client Web sites where it is very important to follow the existing look and feel. We are excited that CastNET 6.0’s new features further enhance our proud tradition of offering visual communication networks with the lowest cost of ownership.” CastNET 6.0 also supports many new features in Scala’s InfoChannel 3 Release 7.2.
